Valentine’s Day seems to drop off the radar just as quickly as it arrives. But maybe Valentine’s Day should be more than just one day! While it’s here, we love to take advantage of that small moment in time to encourage folks to further connect with those they care about, as part of their active positive lifestyle. Hmmm… thanks to the Beatles, “All you need is Love”?
This year we decided to share our day and love of music with fellow seniors at George Pierce Park for a Valentine’s Day Breakfast love song performance. Not only is music a great way to connect with others (nothing like the memory of a shared song to put a smile on your face!), its health benefits are numerous: it reduces stress, relieves symptoms of depression, improves cognitive performance and makes us smile, just to name a few. As we like to say, “Healthy aging is music to our ears!”
Valentine’s Day morning was filled with music, greeting old friends, meeting new friends and lots of hugs. We plan to see everyone again very soon--maybe even at our next event: at the F.A.B. (Duluth’s “Fifty And Beyond” senior organization) Spring Fling. The event will be held Friday evening 5-7pm, March 28t at Duluth Festival Center (Call 770-814-6981 to register). With dinner, casino games, and our performance of Broadway/Show tunes, as well as a dance with some dance performances, we are looking for a fun event..see you there?
