8U Alpharetta Eagles Finish 2nd In Dizzy Dean World Series

The Alpharetta Youth Baseball Association is proud to welcome home the 8U Alpharetta Eagles runners-up in the 2014 Dizzy Dean World Series held in Southaven, Mississippi. The team, comprised of boys from Alpharetta and Johns Creek, traveled from Wills Park to Southaven on Wednesday, July 23.

During pool play, the team was undefeated (5-0) and seeded #3 in the Elite 8. The team defeated the Valdosta Heat on Monday to advance to the Final Four, held on Tuesday, July 29.

The Eagles also defeated the Paulding County All-Stars with exceptional defense to advance to the 2014 World Championship 8U game on Tuesday afternoon.

Out of a pool of 38 teams from across the country, Alpharetta and Kennesaw, both from Georgia, advanced to the Championship. The Eagles were defeated in a much anticipated re-match with the Kennesaw Generals Blue to finish 2nd in the World Series. The AYBA Raiders also made the Elite 8.
