Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southeastern Regional Medical Center Announces Board of Directors

Board to help CTCA deliver Patient Empowered Care® and service excellence as hospital readies for Aug. 15th opening

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southeastern Regional Medical Center has announced its board of directors. The diverse group includes distinguished business, not-for-profit and government leaders in Atlanta and the State of Georgia, as well as CTCA executives. The Newnan-based hospital will open its doors to patients and their families from across the Southeast on Aug. 15.

The CTCA at Southeastern board will support ongoing growth and governance of the 226,000-square-foot, fully digital hospital just outside of metro Atlanta, which will focus on cancer treatment, with expertise in complex and advanced-stage cancers. It is expected to generate $500 million in economic activity and 500 jobs over the first five years. Approximately 170 employees have been hired so far to support the launch of hospital and delivery of Patient Empowered Care®, the unique care model found at CTCA.

Local members of the CTCA at Southeastern Regional Medical Center board of directors include (in alphabetical order):

Greg Cohn, founder and managing partner, Capital C. An Atlanta native and resident, Cohn earned an MBA at Emory Goizueta Business School. He recently co-founded the mezzanine debt fund Source Capital Mezzanine Partners and previously led fund raising for Atlanta Equity, a $109 million leveraged buyout fund. Cohn has served as a volunteer fundraiser for The Westminster Fund and the Adaptive Learning Center, a non-profit supporting children with developmental disabilities and their families.

Pete Robinson, chairman, Troutman Sanders Strategies. Robinson is well known in Georgia for both his professional accomplishments and political career. He served 10 years in the Georgia General Assembly, both in the House of Representatives and the Senate, where he served as President Pro-Tempore and Senate Majority Leader. Robinson co-founded Troutman Sanders Strategies in 2002 and has grown the company into a nationally-recognized issues management firm.

David Scheible, president, CEO and director, Graphic Packaging Holding Corporation. Scheible has worked for Marietta-based Graphic Packaging Holding Corporation for more than a decade, serving in various executive and leadership positions. He also served as an executive at Avery Dennison Corporation and serves on the board of Benchmark Electronics, Inc.

Horst Schulze, president and CEO, Capella Hotel Group. A member of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America national board since 2001, Schulze is recognized as a leader in the hospitality service industry. He served in various executive positions with Ritz-Carlton for nearly two decades before founding Capella Hotel Group. In addition to CTCA, he serves on the boards of Reliance Trust Company, the InfiLaw System, the Travel Institute and the Georgia Family Council.

Linda Selig, principal, the MIH Team. Selig is known for her creativity, energy and “can-do" spirit, as well as her extensive work with Atlanta’s Jewish community. She spent four years as director of development for the Southeast Region of the Anti-Defamation League, and is a past president of Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. Selig currently serves on the National Board of Governors for the American Jewish Committee and as a trustee of the Atlanta Foundation.

Stanley P. (Mickey) Steinberg, independent director, GameStop Corporation. A Georgia Tech graduate and Atlanta resident, Steinberg is senior advisor to the management consulting firm of Casas, Benjamin & White LLC. He previously served as chairman and CEO of Sony Retail Entertainment, as well as executive vice president and COO of Walt Disney Imagineering. Steinberg serves on the board of AMC Inc., the owner and manager of the AmericasMart Atlanta trade show center, and ECI Group.

Loretta Young Walker, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, Turner Broadcasting System. Under Walker’s leadership, TBS human resource programs have been recognized for excellence by numerous organizations including Diversity, Inc., Working Mother magazine, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Society for Human Resource Management. She also serves on the boards of Fulton County Boys & Girls Club, Susan G. Komen – Atlanta, and Kings Ridge Christian School.

Tommie Williams, Georgia State Senator, District 19. A Georgia native and leader in the General Assembly, Williams serves as Senate President Pro Tempore, chair of the Committee on Assignments and vice chair of the Finance Committee. Williams is a graduate of University of Georgia and earned a master’s degree in education from Georgia Southern University. He was recognized by Georgia Trend magazine in 2007 as one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians.

Richard J Stephenson, founder and chairman of the board, Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Stephenson founded CTCA in 1988, determined to change the face of cancer care after his mother passed away from the disease. He has pioneered and proven a new concept in cancer treatment known as the Patient Empowered Care®. A merchant banker, Stephenson serves as chairman, president and a board member of many other proprietary and philanthropic organizations.

Ann Stephenson Holsonback, national board member, Cancer Treatment Centers of America. A resident of Lookout Mountain, Ga., Holsonback is a second generation member of the CTCA founding family and also serves on the board of CTCA at Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia. She has been instrumental in the organization’s commitment to developing breakthrough treatment methodologies. Holsonback has served as president, chair and volunteer with numerous organizations and continues to be an active philanthropist.

Robert W. Mayo, vice chairman of the board, Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Mayo is cofounder of CTCA and oversees all business development and growth initiatives, as well as industry, government and payer relationships. Mayo joined CTCA in 1980 after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy, where he was awarded the prestigious Navy Commendation Medal. He pioneered CTCA’s direct-to-patient oncology information center that has become the cornerstone of the organization’s patient-centered model.

Stephen B. Bonner, president, CEO and board member, Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Bonner joined CTCA in 1999 as president and CEO, and has served on its national board of directors since 1996. Recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare, Bonner is also chairman of the board at William Mitchell College of Law, and director of the National Foundation of Women Legislators.
