In the spring, the city also finished the project at the State Bridge and Medlock Bridge Intersection adding a through-right turn lane. The project included an additional lane at the intersection of State Bridge Road and Medlock Bridge Road. The existing southbound right turn was converted to a southbound through-right by cutting back the existing median to provide extra storage space. An additional signal head was installed for the new thru-lane. Construction began in February and was completed this spring.

The City of Johns Creek and the Georgia Department of Transportation are developing plans to widen Kimball Bridge Road between State Bridge and Jones Bridge roads starting in fall 2017 and finishing this summer.

The 1.25-mile project will widen Kimball Bridge Road from two to four lanes and also includes adding some turn lanes, beautification and pedestrian trails.

The four-lane will add capacity to Kimball Bridge Road and provide a more expedient connection between State Bridge and Jones Bridge roads. Center left-turn lanes and deceleration lanes at subdivision entrances will pull traffic out of the through-lanes, allowing traffic to flow more smoothly.

The 10-foot-wide trails on each side of the road will add improved connectivity between sidewalks and trails on Jones Bridge Road to Alpharetta’s trail network.

The City will manage the project with GDOT providing funding and final approval.
