Back-To-School Rallies Help Students Prepare For Classes
The Fulton County School System's July 28 rallies will offer free health screening, school supplies and on-site school registration.

FULTON COUNTY, GA — The Fulton County School System will host its second Back To School Pep Rally Saturday at two locations. The rallies will be held July from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28 at Banneker High School in College Park and North Springs Charter High School in Sandy Springs.
Known as First Day Fulton, the event offers families help with registering their student for school and picking up school supplies and by hosting community vendors who provide a variety of services. All activities are free for families.
Fulton County Schools estimates that each academic year, about 2,000 students are not in school for the first day. Of these, roughly 1,500 students have not arrived by the 10th day of school, and nearly 500 show up between the 10th and 20th days of school, resulting in missed instructional time.

At each pep rally location, on-site registration staffed by school data clerks and other registration officials will help new families transitioning to Fulton County schools or those moving from one Fulton school attendance zone to another. Documents needed for registration are posted online at www.fultonschools.org.

In addition to student registration, about 25 healthcare and community vendors will be on site to provide health screenings to children and adults. Drawings for special prizes, such as bicycles, Amazon Kindles, gift cards, and tickets to Atlanta venues, also will be held for those who visit the vendor/health fair.
World Changers Church International and the Atlanta Community Food Bank will be on hand to host a food distribution drive to fight hunger, often felt by impoverished and homeless families. Free school supplies also will distributed while they last.
Sponsors for this year’s pep rallies include ClassLink, Gas South, Worldgate, Office Depot, Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company, The Coca-Cola Company and SEI. Banneker High School is located 6015 Feldwood Road in College Park and North Springs High School is located at 7447 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.
