Bill Giving Franchisees Control Over Local Operations Passes House

The Protecting Georgia Small Businesses Act was sponsored by State Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell).

ATLANTA, GA -- The Georgia House of Representatives on Friday passed Senate Bill 277, the Protecting Georgia Small Businesses Act. SB 277.

Sponsored by Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell) and carried through the House by Rep. Brad Raffensperger (R-Johns Creek), the legislation -- Senate Bill 277 -- clarifies that neither a franchisee nor a franchisee’s employee be considered employees of the franchisor.

“Small businesses are vital to our states economic prosperity,” Albers said. “I am thrilled the ‘Protecting Georgia Small Businesses Act’ has been passed by the House and I’m humbled to have played a role in such an important measure that will not only protect small businesses and their owners, but will also help Georgia maintain its ranking as the number one place to do business.”
