Have you felt it? I know I have. Fall is in the air. I have honed my senses to pick up the slightest trace of my favorite season.
As the leaves change so must our hair. I suggest a slight tweak to your color or cut every season. That’s right, FOUR times a year. Don’t freak out, I know change can be scary! There are some great Autumn trends that will give some spice to your ‘do.
Most women think you have to go darker for Fall. Not true! In fact you can make a dramatic change simply by shifting the tone of your lowlights. I’m talking to you blondes! Try a lowlight with a warmer tone like a golden copper hue or perhaps a brown sugar and if you are feeling wild you could sneak in some subtle cinnamon pieces.

On to the brunettes, it’s time to switch it up. Go black. Kidding, totally kidding! Seriously though, don’t get in a color rut. I know a highlight sounds counterproductive in the world of dark hair but it can be a wonderful thing. If you have a head full of chocolate locks try adding a few peekaboo highlight panels around the face in a light golden chestnut tone. The goal isn’t to make a huge color shift, it’s to add some visual interest and to warm up your skin tone as your Summer tan slowly fades.
Don’t forget about your haircut! Want bangs? Go for it! A blunt straight-across fringe is a great way to add dramatic flair. If you want to ease into the process try a side swept style. Want a great way to had some sass to your cut without losing length? Shorten your layers. Taking the weight out of the interior of your cut will actually make your hair look longer!
