Hello nature lovers! I have been kindly asked to share my blog with the readers of the Johns Creek Patch, and I am honored to do so. I thought I would take a quick moment to introduce myself, the way I write the blog, and of course, introduce the wonderful sanctuary where I spend most of my time- Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center.
My name is Ben Team and I am the director of AMNP inc, the non-profit 501c3 organization that helps to manage the park in cooperation with the City of Johns Creek who owns the preserve and associated structures. In addition to being stewards of the preserve and historic structures, we provide environmental and heritage programming, maintain a variety of educational exhibits, coordinate facility rentals, and maintain a live animal collection featuring reptiles and amphibians from the local area and the rest of the world.
I serve at the pleasure of the the Autrey Mill Board of Directors, a group composed completely of dedicated volunteers. Some of our board members have been with AMNP since the beginning, over 25 years ago. I have been employed full time by AMNP inc for eight years, the director since 2006, and was a contract educator here beginning in 2002.

I typically write 10-15 blog entries per month, usually focusing on wildlife sightings at the preserve. I generally accumulate a few blog entries, and post them en masse several times per month. I title all entries with the date of the sighting or occurrence. So, a blog posted on February 17 may be titled February 14, or what have you.
I have the incredible opportunity to spend a lot of time at the preserve, and as such I tend to tally more observations than your average visitor. The blog allows me to share and interpret these sightings, and hopefully offer the reader a better chance at observing neat things in the natural world.

I try my best to include photos in the entries whenever possible, and I will do my best to interpret the various out of focus blobs that I present as “photographs”.
Please send me questions, feedback, and your photos of nature! Thanks to the readers and the Johns Creek Patch.
