There's a new burger place in town. Smashburger has opened its doors at 9775 Medlock Bridge Road.
Being the Food Snob has its perks. I have been invited to eat all over town and it's getting to be fun. Of course, my stomach and waistline are not loving it, but I am.
Meeting the owners and patrons of new restaurants in Johns Creek, Milton, Alpharetta and such is a fantastic new experience I am enjoying.

I was invited to experience the tasty burgers served at Smashburger and can say I throughly did relish, no pun intended, the experience. It's a pleasant lively space with a bright red glass tiled wall at the order counter. The dining area is filled with red booths in addition to the ample tables. The exposed brick walls, which brought back memories of my first apartment in Brooklyn, surround large arched windows making the restaurant light and airy. There is plenty of outdoor seating on the patio as well.
With burgers, salads, hot dogs and a variety of sides, ordered at the counter and brought to your table in five to seven minutes, there is no shortage of goodies to try. The staff is welcoming and efficient, asking if there is anything else you need. The burgers are hearty and very tasty, too! What impressed me were the salads. Served in a slanted bowl, loving that urban quality, the salad can certainly feed more than one person. Adding chicken, yuck, you can make it a meal. I do wish they had other menu options other than adding, you know, chicken! (Note to view the photos of the food).

With the world heading toward use of sustainable ingredients, they offer several local menu items such as Vidalia onions and peach barbeque sauce, which was amazing. I like that each area restaurant will be able to use locally grown ingredients to help our native agriculturalists!
The owner, Phil Wilkins, is a friendly guy who greets each patron with a welcome to Smashburger and a thank you when they leave. Phil sat with us for a while talking about his experience in the food industry. The former owner of a McDonald's franchise, his experience in the food service industry is extensive. He seems a knowledgeble, hands-on owner, who genuinely loves the business.
My recommendation is to visit Smashburger and try it for yourselves. Phil told me they are planning on opening several other locations here in the Atlanta area. Buckhead and Johns Creek are already up and running with Alpharetta and Cumming to follow. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the menu.
