The Doctor's Report, The Food Snob and Sustainable South - A Witty Blog by Jane Diener

The Food Snob is eating healthy and asking for your suggestions.

Well I have good news and some bad.

The good news is that I have posted a link to my daughters blog called Sustainable South (like mother like daughter or visa-versa). The bad news is what I heard from my doctor this weekend. Very very bad. I have been told that I am borderline diabetic. Not a shock considering that I have gained so much weight this past year. I do not attribute that to all the fabulous reataurants and the delicious food I've been sampling, but probably a little stress this year. I am not going to stop trying new places in our neighborhoods, but will make a conscience effort to eat more healthy. Yesterday I went to , which is not my favorite, but the only place closer than the DeKalb Farmers Market, for all the vegetables I needed to get. Keeping in line with the recommendation from my doctor, I have completely changed the way I eat.

Here's a sample of what my plate looked like last night. I divided it into thirds, two thirds small and one large. Section one contained my baked salmon, section two - 1/2 sweet potato and the third was filled with the fresh vegetables I obtained at H Mart. This is my new plan of attack. Making smart eating decisions should have been my priority all the time, but I must admit, I have no will power when it comes to yummy foods. My goal is to bring you all the best dining around town and now, along with my daughter - the healthiest alternatives while still enjoying the dining experience.
