The Food Snob- I'm Not Eating That!

"I'm Not Eating That" has become synonymous with me. It's become a joke that the Food Snob is coming to dinner. Teaching people easy ways to learn how to ask for their food is what this blog is about.

Have you ever wondered why everyone focuses on the positive aspects of what food critics say about what we're eating? Well, I am here to tell you "I'm not eating that!" In this blog I will provide information about local Johns Creek restaurants, both good and bad. I will also blog about food-related issues for locals and travelers, answering questions and enticing you to discuss your opinions here with me.

My name is Barbara Diener and I am the pickest eater on the planet. I know there are many of you out there in Johns Creek who are just as fussy about what is placed before you, yet don't have the first clue as to what to do about it.

I am going to teach you what to do when you find yourself in a restaurant, whether local or while traveling, and are not sure of the ingredients in your food. I, for one, don't even eat chicken, for heaven's sake!

The task at hand is to ask for exactly what you want. Don't be shy. It is better to ask for what you want than to get your meal and look down to find it slathered with something completely foreign and have to send it back.

Oh, by the way, did I mention I am also queen of returns in the food area as well? I take after my mother who majored in all aspects of returns. (My family will appreciate the reference here.) Getting back on track... sometimes I tend to drift. The owners of the restaurants will appreciate your request. It helps them save time and money when you are specific. I know when I ask for a meal without lemon, which I am allergic to, they are grateful that I have told them that. No one wants me keeling over in their place of business. It's bad for business. My advice is to always be completely honest if you have special needs, wants, likes and dislikes.

Every week I will be blogging about local Johns Creek restaurants and letting you know whether I feel they are worthy of a try. I do not consider myself a food expert, but I do know good service and good food. I think I am an excellent judge of quality over quantity, having been lucky enough to travel the globe experiencing many different cultures and culinary feasts.

My family says I should stay focused because I am drifting off into lala land too often these days.  I am recruiting my fellow Johns Creek neighbors to keep me grounded. Please send me your opinions on your eating habits and if you, too, are as picky as I. Your suggestions are most welcome.
