Businessman Announces Bid For Johns Creek City Council

Resident Todd Burkhalter is jumping into the race for the Johns Creek City Council’s Post 2 seat.

Burkhalter said his campaign platform will focus on open government, “direct and blunt communication” with voters and good stewardship of our city tax dollars.

Burkhalter, who describes himself as a Republican, stated he believes city finances “should be managed conservatively and with respect to the residents who fund our great city.”

Burkhalter added he will commit to never voting for a tax increase for johns Creek residents.

“Far too many politicians run for office with promises of never raising taxes yet somehow our taxes continue to go up,” he added. “I will speak bluntly with citizens and not engage in political word games to deceive voters. A fee increase is a tax increase - I will oppose all tax and fee increases on the residents of Johns Creek. I love this city and I love the people. This is where my wife and I will retire. I will always be honest with you. You may not always agree, but you will know I’m always shooting straight.”

The City Council candidate graduated from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. As a life-long small business owner, Burkhalter has been a founding member of several businesses throughout his career.

He is currently the founder of Drive Planning, a financial planning firm located in Johns Creek. He and his wife, Jackie, are graduates of Leadership Johns Creek’s class of 2012.

They are members of North Point Community Church where they lead a Small Group and serve on the Guest Services Team.
