Carbonell said he believes the city is “sitting on almost $54 million” that could be used to improve traffic conditions, provide tax relieve and acquire land for more parks. Johns Creek, he states, does not have a ”long-term budget plan, or really anything with a clear goal for the long-term.” This is something Carbonell said he wants to change.

Carbonell also describes himself as a conservative ”with deep community roots.” His experience in both marketing and banking gives him a “well-rounded skill set that will be an asset to the city’s governing body,” according to a press release.

“The city of Johns Creek needs leaders with the ability to make informed and educated decisions no matter how unpopular those decisions might make those leaders,” Carbonell continued. “If elected, I will see that taxes are rolled back (as we were promised), and I will work on improving traffic flow and building more parks and recreational facilities.”

Along with Carbonell, the Post 5 seat has two additional candidates: Stephanie Endres and Nazeera Dawood.

Since he arrived in Georgia in 2002, Carbonell has been a champion for the rights of minorities through his work with different organizations, both in the financial sector and as an independent consultant.

He is a sitting board member of the Georgia Hispanic Construction Association, where his vision is not only to contribute to the industry’s diversity, but to also promote further cultural integration.

Carbonell also volunteers as a Cub Scout Den Leader for his sons’ Tiger Den. For more information about the candidate, visit his website or Facebook page.
