ROSWELL, GA -- The work of 2012 Centennial High School graduate Laura Douglas will be showcased in the March/April 2018 issue of Communication Arts magazine, the leading trade journal for visual communications and the largest creative magazine in the world.

The magazine is one of the most prestigious venues for graphic design, advertising, photography and illustration. The spring issue of Communication Arts will profile select undergraduate graphic designers chosen from online student portfolio profiles from across North America.

Out of Douglas's four projects chosen for inclusion, two were personal projects and two were class projects: a rebranding of NASA for the 2050 Mars initiation/launch and a poster series aimed at raising awareness about factory farming.

"NASA's mission now focuses on creating habitable working environments on Mars, along with further developing space agriculture and research," Douglas, a senior at the University of Georgia, said of the NASA project. "With the rebranded values focused on passion, authenticity, and reliability, I aimed to create a voice and visual approach for NASA that would appear friendly, trustworthy and approachable."

John Riggins, one of Laura's former teachers at Centennial High School, is very proud of Douglas, though not entirely surprised.

"Laura took a lot of visual arts classes here at Centennial, in addition to AP Studio Art 2D Design and AP Studio Art Drawing Portfolio, earning a 5 in each," Riggins said. "I expect Laura will go far in this field. She is a very talented young lady."
