Chattahoochee Chess Team Competes At State

Chattahoochee High School's chess team placed second in the state competition.

This past Saturday, the Hooch Chess Team comprised of Vignesh Sekar, Suraj Peramanu, Rahul Komatineni, Vikram Ruppa-Kasani, Brandon Wei, Nithilan Vincent, and Josh Jeong competed at the 2018 Georgia Team Chess Championship.

Winning 4 out of their 5 matches against rival schools, they managed to place second in the state! Additionally, Komatineni winning 4.5 out of his 5 games was given the “Top Player” award for winning the highest amount of games in the tournament for his board.

Congratulations to the chess team and their sponsor Mr. Mihordea for this great finish to their season.
