Chattahoochee High Educator Named 2019 Fulton Teacher Of The Year

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Fulton County Schools has named its finalists for multiple county wide awards, including the 2019 Teacher of the Year, Professional of the Year and Assistant Principals of the Year for each learning community.

Pam Whitlock, career tech teacher at Chattahoochee High School, was named the 2019 Fulton County School's district wide Teacher of the Year.

This is Whitlock's fourth year teaching computer science courses at Chattahoochee High School, she said on her website. She has an education degree from Western Carolina University and holds a business education teaching certificate with a computer science endorsement that she earned through Southern Polytechnic State University/Kennesaw State University.

Additionally, Whitlock said she is also a business owner. She and her husband built MoneyTrail.net and through this, she developed a love for programming.

"However, after many years of staying home with my children, I realized that I greatly missed teaching," Whitlock wrote. "So, as my kids got older, I went back to school and earned my business certification and computer science endorsement. I have experience with Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python and SQL. I am thrilled to be back in the classroom and hope to instill a love of computer programming in my Hooch students."

She and her husband, Frank, have four children, Brittany, Dwight, Davis and Leland. Brittany, Dwight and Davis are all Chattahoochee graduates. Brittany is in her second year at Emory Medical School and Dwight is starting his senior year at UGA, majoring in computer science and economics. Davis will be attending Kennesaw State University this year and will be majoring in computer science. Leland is a rising sophomore at Chattahoochee.

  • Martina Franklin, Liberty Point Elementary School, Professional of the Year
