Chattahoochee High School Student Wins Congressional Art Competition

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- Congressman Tom Price, M.D. congratulated the winners of the annual 6th District Congressional Art Competition, which took place over the weekend at the Roswell Visual Arts Center.

At the ceremony, the Atlanta Art Institute made available a combined $23,000 in scholarships to this year’s top three finalists and the Savannah College of Arts and Design made available a $3,000 scholarship per year to the first place winner.

“We are reminded each year that high school students from around the 6th District are amazingly talented artists," Price, who lives in Roswell, said.

This year's competition included 40 pieces from "incredible artwork" from seven schools in the district, which encompasses north Fulton County and portions of Cobb County, Price added

This year’s winner was Robert Hunter, a ninth-grade student at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, and his painting entitled, “Guardian of America,” will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

Our second and third place winners, as well as our honorable mentions, will be on display in Price's Roswell office.

The following students are the honorees of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District:

  • First place: “Guardian of America” by Robert Hunter, Chattahoochee High School
  • Second place: “Gastown” by Su Min Lee, Johns Creek High School
  • Third place: “Bustling Streets” by Amy Rhee, Mt. Pisgah Christian School
  • Honorable Mention: “Unlimited Reality” by Longna N. Liu, Walton High School
  • Honorable Mention: “Manufactured” by Yufei Liu, Mt. Pisgah Christian School
