Chattahoochee High Student Wins Space Camp Scholarship

Chattahoochee High School student Ryan Mahoney is one of two Georgia students who is taking advantage of an academy designed to get young people interested in the STEM subjects.
Mahoney was awarded a scholarship to attend the 2014 Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
The academy kicked off on Feb. 21 and will end on Friday.
Ryan is one of 304 students from 33 U.S. states and 38 countries to attend. He is also one of two students from Georgia taking part of the initiative. North Forsyth High School student Madison James, who lives in Cumming, was also awarded a scholarship.
The program is "designed to inspire the next generation of students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math," according to a press release from the organization.
