In late September, the Public Works Department will begin adding 700 feet to a northbound, right-turn lane from Jones Bridge Road onto eastbound McGinnis Ferry Road.

Then, to allow those motorists time to merge into the flow of traffic, Johns Creek will also add 1,000 feet of transition lane on McGinnis Ferry Road. Construction is expected to take about three months.

Motorists at this intersection experience considerable delays with through-traffic and right-turn traffic sharing a single lane, the city notes.

The project is being coordinated with Forsyth County, which is planning to widen Brookwood Road, which becomes Jones Bridge Road in Johns Creek, and McGinnis Ferry Road from just north of Sargent Road to S.R. 400, where the Georgia Department of Transportation will install a new interchange.
