Country Current To Perform In Johns Creek

The show featuring the U.S. Navy Band will be held Aug. 31 at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The city of Johns Creek will play host to the United States Navy Band on Friday at Newtown Park. Country Current will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park.

Country Current is the Navy's premier country-bluegrass ensemble. The group is nationally renowned for its versatility and impressive musicianship, performing a blend of modern country music and cutting-edge bluegrass.

The seven-member ensemble employs musicians from diverse backgrounds with extensive high-profile recording and touring experience in the music scenes of Nashville, Tennessee, New York, New Orleans and more. In the tradition of country music, each member is a skilled performer on multiple instruments.

The band utilizes banjo, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, fiddle, electric bass, upright bass, dobro, pedal steel guitar and drum set. In 2011, Country Current became the first military band to perform at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. You can learn more about the band by clicking here.

Gates open for the show, which is free to attend, at 7 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic from home or enjoy food from the food trucks, which will be announced as the date approaches. Hurricane Grill will be on-site serving cold beer and wine.
