The contractor for the project to install a roundabout at Sargent and Crossington roads was able to squeeze in milling and rough paving on Tuesday, the city of Johns Creek said on its Facebook page.

While the roundabout is “operational,” crews still need to work to perfect its interior, the city adds.

Motorist should expect “continued significant delays” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 and possibly through Friday, Dec. 11 while crews take on that task, the city said.

The contractor will have to close one lane in this area of Sargent Road during this process; flaggers will be posted on either side of the project to control traffic.

The project, which includes sidewalks and landscaped medians, is expected to wrap up by the end of the year. Fulton County Schools is being notified of the roadwork.

This would be the second roundabout on Sargent Road. One roundabout was installed at Lexington Drive in 2014.

According to the city, the benefits of roundabouts include improving safety by reducing the number and severity of accidents, enabling traffic to flow and the ability to blend in with neighborhood settings.

A tip for motorists: when you are in a roundabout, you have the right of way; vehicles approaching roundabouts must yield to you before they can enter.
