Educators Named 2018 Special Needs Teachers Of The Year

The four Fulton County educators were honored by the Johns Creek Civitan Club.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Four educators in the Fulton County School System were named Special Needs Teachers of the Year by the Johns Creek Civitan Club. The teachers, who work at schools in Johns Creek, were recognized on Tuesday, May 1 by the organization.

There are 19 Fulton County Schools that serve the residents of Johns Creek, and the teachers were nominated by their respective principals. The Civitan Club selected two teachers among the 11 elementary schools, one from the four middle schools, and one from the four high schools to honor.

The four Johns Creek Civitan Club Special Needs Teachers of the Year include Karen Reed, Findley Oaks Elementary School; Mary Beth Eby, Wilson Creek Elementary School; Lindsay Resnick, Taylor Road Middle School; and Kelley Hoehn, Johns Creek High School.

“The Johns Creek Civitan Club is proud to honor these teachers,” said Jeff Cavender, President of the Johns Creek Civitan Club. “The Johns Creek Special Needs Teacher of the Year award is our effort to highlight the important work these individuals do for the students.”

All of the Johns Creek Special Needs Teacher of the Year nominees were also honored at the breakfast. Nominees included Emilee Tutterrow, Abbotts Hill Elementary School; Allison Polaski Dolvin Elementary School; Karen Reed, Findley Oaks Elementary School; Megan Worthington, Shakerag Elementary School; Myaa Anderson, State Bridge Crossing Elementary School; Mary Beth Eby, Wilson Creek Elementary School; Elise Krietner, Autrey Mill Middle School; Melinda Umphenor, River Trail Middle School; Lindsay Resnick, Taylor Road Middle School; Alexandra Henson, Centennial High School; Francis Hill, Chattahoochee High School; Kelley Hoehn, Johns Creek High School; and Diane Whitlatch, Northview High School.
