A business woman who lives and works just a wee bit North of Johns Creek has invested time, talent and $treasure in a virtual one-person war against Pancreatic Cancer. It is the fourth most deadly form of the disease. It will kill close to 37,00 citizens this year, most within three to six months; there is no early detection and practically no funding from the Naional Cancer Institute. Maria Fundora, co-owner of Casa Nuova Italian Restaurant with her husband, Antonio, is in the third year of a commitment to raise research funds by feeding healthy people with good food crafted by Antonio. The flagship project is the Purple Pansies Gala, 5670 Allanta Hwy, Alpharetta. It is an evening of fine Italian food, select wines, spirits, raffles, auctions and fun. Maria pours her heart and soul into this significant work in memory of her mother, who succumbed in three months.
