Fashion Speaks On The Creek Set For Sept. 17
The event will raise awareness and funding for the special needs community.
From Xena & Jonny: The second annual “Fashion Speaks on the Creek” special needs fashion show, presented by Jonny & Xena’s Spread the Words Foundation and the Johns Creek Civitan Club, is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 at Johns Creek High School, 5575 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek. Doors open at 3:15 p.m.
Male and female models with special needs will walk the runway with members of the Johns Creek Police Department. The event’s Star Wars theme, “The Force Awakens,” pairs the exceptional with Johns Creek’s Finest and Star Wars Heroes and Villains. In addition to the fashion show, there will be food, a raffle, 50/50 and silent auction. Local television news anchor Karyn Greer will serve as the event’s emcee.
Event sponsors include United Community Bank, and Belk stores which will provide all of the clothing and accessories. 501 st Georgia Garrison will provide all the Star Wars characters. The back stage beauty team will be provided by Lavender Hair Salon, Johns Creek. Tickets can be purchased for $10 each at www.XenaTheWarriorPuppy.com.

Jonny & Xena’s Spread the Words Foundation President Linda Hickey said that participation of the local sponsors, the Johns Creek Police Department, and Star Wars personalities storming the stage “makes the event even more special.” “The Jonny & Xena’s Spread the Words Foundation is proud to partner with the Johns Creek Civitan Club
for this event,” Hickey said. On March 25, 2013, Hickey’s family adopted a stray from DeKalb Animal Services that would forever change their world.

“This Warrior Puppy who was found clinging to life, beat every single odd against her,” Hickey said. “She was not only destined to survive and help transform the life of one boy with autism, but I believe she was meant to continue her miracles through service within her community, all while capturing the hearts of thousands from all around the world. Jonny and Xena are truly a match made in heaven and through this blessing, my heart tells me I have to give back and make a difference."
