Kindergarten students at Findley Oaks Elementary School recently culminated their study of book characters with a parade of pumpkin heads. Students worked with their classroom teachers and the media specialist to learn about different elements of a story, including main character. Afterwards, students each selected a favorite book to read with their family. They identified the main character in their books, then decorated a pumpkin to look like the character. They also completed a mini-report with details about the character and what they liked about the character. The parade of pumpkin heads was displayed in the media center, with corresponding books, for the whole school to enjoy.
