Fire Department To Unveil Steel Remnants of World Trade Center

The Johns Creek Fire Department will unveil structural steel remnants of the World Trade Center during the Rotary Club of North Fulton’s Patriot Day/Sept. 11 Commemoration event.

The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11 at the Newtown Park Amphitheater.
The Johns Creek Fire Department received the pieces of steel in June and the remnants will be displayed at Fire Station No. 61 at 10265 Medlock Bridge Parkway, following the ceremony.

The community is invited to the free 9/11 commemoration honoring local first responders, including Johns Creek’s police, fire and emergency medical technical personnel.
The event will feature a keynote address by Alpharetta police officer David Freeman, who was wounded in the line of duty during a traffic stop on Ga. 400 in 2013.
The remembrance will include remarks by Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker as well as patriotic music, a moment of silence and ringing of a memorial bell in honor of the fallen.
