Former State Senator Enters 6th Congressional District Race

Dan Moody is running for the seat vacated by Tom Price following his confirmation as secretary of Health and Human Services.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- A former Georgia state senator is looking to represent constituents on a higher level.

Dan Moody announced Monday that he will qualify to become a candidate in the special election to fill the Georgia's 6th Congressional District seat.

The post was vacated last week when Tom Price was confirmed to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

“We talked the talk on the campaign trail, now Republicans need to walk the walk and make good on our promises,” Moody said. “This is an historic opportunity to deliver on tax cuts, job creation, repealing Obamacare and shrinking the massive size of the federal government. The time for talking is over and the time for doing has arrived.”

A retired captain in the U.S. Army Reserves and an electrical engineer by trade, Moody is a small business owner who is "known for taking on the hard jobs" no one else wants to tackle.

Moody was first elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2002 and, as a supporter of term limits, Moody chose to leave office in 2010.

He lives in Johns Creek with wife, Stephanie. You can keep track of Moody's campaign by liking his page on Facebook and following him on Twitter.

Qualifying for the race runs through Wednesday, Feb. 15. The special election has been designated for Tuesday, April 18. A runoff, if needed, is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20.
