Fulton Animal Shelter Reaches No-Kill Level
LifeLine Animal Project, which operates the shelter, is also celebrating its third anniversary with free adoptions all week.
By Karen Hirsch
Employees of LifeLine Animal Project, the managing organization for both DeKalb and Fulton County Animal Services, have lots to celebrate this month.
For the first time ever for any open intake shelter in the history of metro Atlanta, our Fulton County Animal Services (FCAS) shelter has achieved no-kill levels. No-kill is defined as saving 90 percent or more of the animals, and we've been doing this since November.

Who can you adopt for FREE? How about our Pets of the Week?
LifeLine's Fulton County Pets of the Week: Ellen, Chang and Rosie
Meet Ellen, a beautiful and silly, two-year-old girl who weighs 58 lbs. With one blue eye and one hazel eye, this girl is a striking furry bundle of fun and energy! If you enjoy hiking, jogging or other outdoor activities, Ellen would be a fantastic companion. She doesn't tire easily and is very adventurous. She also loves playing fetch with chew toys as well as playing with other dogs. Come get to know Ellen today!
Our next Pet of the Week is Chang, a pint-sized Lab mix who is 11 months old and weighs only 41 lbs. Chang is still a puppy and has a zest for life, so he enjoys bouncing and running around our play yards and chasing balls. He also loves to play with other dogs, and would make a great canine brother for another energetic dog. Chang is very affectionate, loves to give kisses and has joyful disposition that makes everyone who meets him smile. Chang is already neutered, microchipped and vaccinated, so he can go home with you today!
Our feline Pet of the Week is a one-year-old petite kitty named Rosie. Sadly, this little 8 lb. girl was left behind in an apartment when her owners moved. Due to her scary ordeal, when Rosie first arrived at the shelter, she hid in the corner of our cat colony room all day. But this sweet baby has really come around, and is now super affectionate with our staff. Rosie also gets along well with the other shelter cats and will adjust nicely to living in a home. Come meet sweet Rosie today, and give her the second chance she deserves!
