Fulton Celebrates National School Lunch Week
National School Lunch Week runs Oct. 16-20, and highlights the healthy choices offered to students in the school system.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Fulton County Schools will commemorate National School Lunch Week during Oct. 16-20, with this year's thee dubbed "Recipes for Success."
National School Lunch Week emphasizes the healthy foods that are offered daily at Fulton County schools. Throughout the week, Fulton County school cafés will have special guest servers, coloring and recipe contests, special giveaways, free samples on “Try It Tuesday,” and a chance to win the Grand Prize at the end of the week.
“School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and less fat and sodium,” said Alyssia Wright, executive director of the district’s School Nutrition Program. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the benefits of our lunch program, and the appealing choices we offer.”

Fulton County Schools participates in the federally funded National School Lunch Program. The program, which has been serving the nation’s children for more than 60 years, requires school meals to meet federal nutrition standards such as offering fruits and vegetables every day, serving whole grain-rich foods, and limiting fat, calories, and sodium. Parents can view Fulton County school menus on the school system’s School Nutrition website and also see each food item’s nutritional content.
The “Recipes for Success” campaign is made possible by the national nonprofit, School Nutrition Association, and parents and students can follow the fun on social media using the hashtag #NSLW17.
