Fulton County Schools Want Input on New Textbooks

Starting with the 2015-16 school year, Roswell High School will offer Literature and History of the New Testament Era course.

Materials being considered for future use in Fulton County high schools are on display for public feedback until April 27.

Beginning with the 2015-16 school year, Riverwood International Charter School will offer a new International Baccalaureate Chinese course and Roswell High School will offer Literature and History of the New Testament Era.

These course offerings could be expanded to other high schools in future years depending on student interest or involvement in the International Baccalaureate program.

Parents, school system employees and community members are invited to review the materials listed below and provide their feedback.

  • International Baccalaureate Chinese, Year One and Two: Yan Burch, Mandarin for the IB Diploma (3rd edition), Trans-Atlantic Publications, 2014.
  • Literature and History of the New Testament Era: Cullen Schippe and Chuck Stetson, The Bible and Its Influence (2nd edition), BLP Publishing, 2011.

The materials are on display until April 27 at five locations throughout the county:

Independence High School
86 School Drive, Alpharetta

Fulton County Schools Administrative Center
786 Cleveland Avenue SW, Atlanta

Riverwood International Charter School
5900 Raider Drive, Sandy Springs

Roswell High School
11595 King Road, Roswell

Westlake High School
2400 Union Road SW, Atlanta

The materials were first screened by teacher committees at the two high schools, resulting in potential vendors. After vetting through a public feedback process, the school board will decide whether to approve the textbooks this spring.
