Fulton School Board Members Sworn Into Office

Linda Bryant, Gail Dean and Katha Stuart will all begin their new, four-year terms in January.

Fulton County School Board members Linda Bryant, Gail Dean and Katha Stuart recently were sworn in to new four-year terms of office.

In January, Bryant will start her seventh term, while Dean begins her fifth term and Stuart begins her first full term after serving the unexpired term of retired District 1 member Linda Schultz.

Bryant represents areas in Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, Fairburn, Palmetto, Union City and southwest Atlanta. She currently serves as vice president of the school board.

Bryant is a former teacher, PTA president, local school advisory committee chair, and chair of the Superintendent's Advisory Committee. In addition, Bryant has more than 20 years of experience with the Georgia probations/corrections department and holds a bachelor's degree from Tuskegee University and a master's degree in counseling from Georgia State University.

Gail Dean, District 3

Dean represents areas in Sandy Springs and East Point and all of Hapeville. A longtime advocate for public education, Dean has been an active school volunteer and a member of numerous reform and system-level committees prior to her election to the school board. She also has been a PTA president as well as a Local School Advisory Council chairwoman and has served on a Sandy Springs legislative committee.

Dean’s knowledge of public finance and construction is an asset to the school board. She has been president of the Atlanta Homebuilders Association – Inner Atlanta Chapter, has owned a real estate brokerage and two construction firms, and has consulted for financial institutions throughout the Southeast. She also has served on the boards of the Sandy Springs/North Fulton Clean and Beautiful, the Fulton County School Employees’ Charitable Fund, Fulton Education Foundation and the Fulton Employees’ Pension Board.

Katha Stuart, District 1

Stuart represents areas in Alpharetta and Roswell. A 20-year resident of District 1 and a parent of two teenagers, Stuart has been involved in Fulton County Schools activities since her children first started kindergarten at Mountain Park Elementary. Over the years she has served in various PTA and School Governance Council (formerly Local School Advisory Council) roles at Mountain Park Elementary School, Crabapple Middle School and Roswell High School. Stuart also has been a part of the Superintendent’s Community Advisory Committee and has been a parent advocate for supporting SPLOST funding.
