JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation on Wednesday will host a ceremony to dedicate a portion of a state highway to a State Transportation Board member.

The ceremony to dedicate a portion of S.R. 141/Medlock Bridge Road to Mark Burkhalter will be held at 4 p.m. May 11.

Mark Burkhalter Highway will begin at Johns Creek's southern city limits at the Chattahoochee River and extend to Medlock Bridge Road's intersection with S.R. 120/Abbotts Bridge Road.

The event will be held at 9800 Medlock Bridge Road at an old school building behind the shopping plaza.

Burkhalter is a senior advisor in the public policy and regulation practice at Dentons.

He served 18 years in the Georgia General Assembly before moving into the private sector. Burkhalter also operated a successful real estate development business.
