JOHNS CREEK, GA — Governor Brian P. Kemp announced June 5 that he will appoint Rachelle L. Carnesale to the Atlanta Judicial Circuit Superior Court to fill the vacancy created by Judge Gail Tusan's recent retirement.

"Rachelle Carnesale's experience, temperament, and leadership style are ideal for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit Superior Court," Kemp said. "As a successful prosecutor and fierce advocate for our most vulnerable, I know that Rachelle will lead by example and excel on the bench. I am excited to see the positive impact that she will make on her community in the years ahead."

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Emory University School of Law, Carnesale is Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, serving as acting District Attorney as needed, managing day-to-day operations, and prosecuting complex felony matters, particularly child homicide cases.
