Hooch Grad Earns 2nd Team All-Conference as Freshman, Also Named Scholar Athlete

Hooch grad Jack Cioffi named All-Conference and MCLA Scholar-Athlete as a freshman Savannah College of Art and Design lacrosse player.

Jack Cioffi, a 2014 Chattahoochee High School grad, was one of three Savannah College of Art & Design men’s lacrosse players named to the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference’s DII All-Conference team. He also earned Scholar-Athlete distinction from the SELC’s national governing body, the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA).

Cioffi, a midfielder, earned SELC second-team honors after tallying 20 goals and 23 points for the Bees. The freshman ranked second on the team in goals scored. Cioffi scored at least one goal in 10 games, including netting a hat trick on two different occasions. He also picked up 27 ground balls for the Bees, second on the team.

In addition, he was named an MCLA Scholar-Athlete the end of May after excelling both on the field and in the classroom. In order to qualify for this award from MCLA, the national organization of non-NCAA men’s college lacrosse programs, individuals need to earn All-Conference recognition and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better (Cioffi’s is 3.66).

While at Chattahoochee, Cioffi was selected to the 2013 Georgia high school 6A second team and was also a two-time Di-Varsity All-Star, a four-year varsity athlete and a captain his senior year. When he graduated, he was Chattahoochee’s top midfielder in career goals, points and ground balls.

The annual SELC tournament is hosted by Northview High School, in conjunction with several other local high schools, at the end of April. The SELC includes 44 colleges and universities from 10 states, including Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, Florida State, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. The SELC is the largest of the MCLA’s 10 conferences.
