Household Hazardous Waste Collection Comes to Johns Creek

Residents in Johns Creek will soon be able to dispose of household hazardous waste materials stored away in corners of garages and storage sheds.

Keep North Fulton Beautiful will host a collection drive on Saturday, Oct. 24 in the parking lot of The Home Depot, which is located at 5950 State Bridge Road.

From 9 a.m to 1 p.m., residents can drop off various items at the event. Registration to take part in the event is required, and can be done online.

Items that will be accepted include:

• Paint (limit 10 containers, max 10 gallons combined);
• solvents, cleaners, aerosols;
• herbicides and pesticides;
• motor oil, anti-freeze, gasoline;
• mercury (thermostats, thermometers);
• batteries and electronics (CRTs, monitors, etc.);
• propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors;
• cooking oils; and
• fluorescent bulbs. 

Items that will not be accepted include:

• medical waste, needles;
• ammunition, explosives;
• pharmaceuticals; and
• non-hazardous items.
