Johns Creek 2020 Proposed Budget Focuses On City Goals
The proposed $65.5 million budget is centered on critical goals and themes to move Johns Creek from planning to action, the city said.
JOHNS CREEK, GA — Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker shared his proposed Fiscal Year 2020 Budget for the City of Johns Creek and presented a detailed revenue and spending plan to the City Council and the community for their review and consideration.
The proposed $65.5 million budget is centered on critical goals and themes which help move the city from deliberative planning and discussion and into a proactive and execution-driven strategy. Important FY2019 themes such as transparency and budget maturity remain a core part of the recommended plan while the proposed FY2020 Budget ensures the city continues providing high-level, high-quality services desired by residents.
“The proposed FY2020 Budget balances our ongoing commitment to completing necessary infrastructure maintenance and new capital investments benefitting our community long into the future,” Bodker said. “This budget forwards the city’s conservative fiscal policies which meet the needs of the community today while assuring future generations the same access to resources and quality of life currently enjoyed by all.”

The FY2020 Budget forwards four key priorities:
- delivering public safety
- preserving city assets
- improving mobility and connectivity
- sustaining storm water infrastructure
These priorities or themes can be seen in both the recurring programs and services funded in the budget, the proposed FY2020 capital projects, maintenance projects, and position additions. These efforts demonstrate how the city is aligning its resources with the issues that matter most to residents.

Within the proposed FY2020 Budget personnel outlays remain the largest expenditure at 42 percent of General Fund followed by operational expenditures at 27 percent of General Fund. The largest revenues streams remain the local option sales tax (38 percent of budgeted revenues) and property taxes (30 percent of budgeted revenues).
The Johns Creek City Council will be asked to take final action on the FY2020 Budget during scheduled Work Session discussions on both Sept. 9 and Sept. 23 as well as Public Hearings on both evenings as part of the Council Meetings.
Feedback from community members will be encouraged via the city’s website, e-mail, and city social media vehicles. Additionally, copies of the proposed FY2020 Budget will be available on the website, at City Hall, and at Park Place.
