Johns Creek, Alpharetta Team Up For Day of Service

Leadership Johns Creek and the Rotary Club of Alpharetta next month will team up for the second annual North Fulton Serves Day of Service.

The event will take place May 9, and will offer several volunteer projects in the area. The 2015 installment will be Alpharetta’s second year taking part in projects and Johns Creek’s inaugural volunteer drive.

This year’s projects include working with the Ed Isakson Alpharetta YMCA, North Fulton Community Charities, Senior Services North Fulton, Wilson Creek Elementary School and a Red Cross Blood Drive at Fire Station No. 62 in the Shakerag area of Johns Creek.

“We are excited that Johns Creek is joining Alpharetta for our second annual event,” said Event Coordinator Jason Binder. “It is heart warming that our communities can come together and put prayer into action by serving others.”

North Fulton Serves was founded by a small group of community volunteers to help engage the citizens living in north Fulton cities and to connect them with local nonprofit projects.

Founded in honor of National Day of Prayer (an annual event held on the first Thursday in May), the initiative recognizes those less fortunate who need the support of local neighbors to make a difference.

Last year over 300 volunteers supported 14 projects in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Roswell and Sandy Springs.

The goal is to have each city in North Fulton come together and “pay it forward” to those who need additional community support, Binder stated.
