Johns Creek Assistant Public Works Director Honored

Johns Creek Assistant Public Works Director Chris Haggard was awarded the American Public Works Association GA Chapter Manager of the Year.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The City of Johns Creek Assistant Public Works Director Chris Haggard was awarded the American Public Works Association Georgia Chapter Manager of the Year Award.

The Manager of the Year – Administrative Management recognizes outstanding achievement in the area of administration within public works departments to inspire excellence and dedication in the public sector by recognizing the outstanding career service achievements of administrative professionals.

“Chris continually works to make the city a better place for all residents,” said Ed Densmore, City Manager of Johns Creek “This award is affirmation of his dedication and awareness of the critical and specific infrastructure needs within the community. From program management, to budgeting and funding, to running public meetings and information open house events, Chris understands and listens to the community and businesses regarding outstanding service delivery.”

Among his major accomplishments considered in the award designation included Haggard’s successful management of the widening of Ga. 120 / Abbotts Bridge Road (from Jones Bridge Road to Parsons Road), Brumbelow Road Pedestrian Bridge and Sidewalk Connection, and Parsons Road sidewalk and mid-block crossing.

Haggard attained a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida. He is a Georgia Professional Engineer, GSWCC Level II Certified Erosion Control Design Professional, and GDOT LAP Certified. He has been a part of the city’s Public Works Department since 2013.
