Johns Creek Calls For Special Election To Fill Council Seat

The Post 4 seat was vacated when Bob Gray resigned to run for Georgia's 6th Congressional District seat.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The Johns Creek City Council has approved a resolution calling for a special election to fill its vacant Post 4 seat.

The special election, which is needed due to the resignation Councilman Bob Gray, will be held Tuesday, April 18.

Gray resigned so he could run in the special election for Georgia's 6th Congressional District seat, which was also vacated by Tom Price when he was tapped to serve as secretary of Health and Human Services for the Trump administration.

Qualifying for the race will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 6 through Wednesday, March 8 in the office of the city clerk.

The clerk's office is in Suite 400 at Johns Creek City Hall, which is at 12000 Findley Road.

The qualifying fee is $450, which is 3 percent of the total gross salary for the preceding year.

Each candidate must meet the qualifications of the charter and code of the city, as well as all applicable state and constitutional laws, before he or she can formally enter the race.
