Council members voted to deny a request from Cornerstone Design & Development to rezone 8.63 acres in the 9400 block of Nesbit Ferry Road from AG-1 (agricultural district) to R-4 (single family dwelling). The company sought to build a 26-lot single-family residential subdivision.

The property is located on the east side of Nesbit Ferry Road between Abbottswell Drive and Arbor Woods Drive, about .3 miles north of Brumbelow Road and roughly .85 miles south of Old Alabama Road.

City leaders also voted to defer until next month a request from the Providence Group of Georgia to rezone land at 8139 and 8255 McGinnis Ferry Road from AG-1 to NUP (neighborhood unit) for a proposed 33-unit single family detached residential subdivision.

Johns Creek did give the green light to another request from the Providence Group. The council approved the company’s petition to rezone 7.9 acres at 11885 and 11895 Douglas Road from NUP to TR (townhouse residential) to develop 49 attached townhome lots. City staff notes the site is located on the west side of Douglas Road, about .1 mile north of its intersection with Jones Bridge Road.

Council members also voted down a proposed resolution that would have imposed a 90-day moratorium on accepting any rezoning applications seeking to build senior housing, personal care homes or assisted living facilities in the city.
