Johns Creek Fire To Offer Free CPR Certification Class June 22

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The Johns Creek Fire Department is offering free CPR/AED training to Johns Creek residents on Saturday, June 22 at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at City Hall, 11360 Lakefield Drive.

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is an emergency procedure in which the heart and lungs are made to work by manually compressing the chest overlying the heart and forcing air into the lungs. CPR is used to maintain circulation when the heart stops pumping, usually because of disease, drugs, or trauma.

The use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), a small, portable device that sends an electric shock to the heart and restores a patient's heart rhythm to normal levels, greatly increases the chance of survival.

Participants must be at least 12 years old and residents of Johns Creek (confirm address). Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of recognition by the Johns Creek Fire Department.

Each class holds up to 25 people and lasts approximately an hour and a half. Participants should wear relaxed, comfortable clothing. Those interested in signing up can choose either the 8 a.m. class or 10 a.m. class. Register online on the city website.
