Johns Creek Graduate Receives Merit Scholarship

A Johns Creek student is one of four winners of the 2015 Insperity Merit Scholarship administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The scholarship recipients are Rachel Bennett of Carrollton, Texas; Jessica Butcher of Colleyville, Texas; Jeffrey Hardin of St. Peters, Missouri; and Kathleen Reynolds of Johns Creek.

Kathleen Reynolds is a homeschool graduate and plans to attend Kennesaw State University.

Throughout high school, she was actively involved in TeenPact Leadership Schools, a national youth civics and leadership organization, where she served as a national staffer and state ambassador. Kathleen lettered in mock trial three years, where she served as a team leader, received numerous regional and state outstanding attorney awards, and was admitted with honors to the Georgia High School Student Bar Association.

Kathleen has worked on multiple political campaigns at the state and national levels, and during her senior year interned as a legislative aide for a Georgia state representative. Kathleen’s other high school activities included science Olympiad, yearbook and newspaper editor, stage and film acting, numerous speech and debate competitions and youth worship leader at her church.

She also participated in a medical mission trip to Guatemala and volunteered at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta hospital for two summers. Kathleen is the daughter of Sandra and Mark Reynolds, who is chief financial officer at GeoVax, Inc., an Insperity client.

The Merit Scholarship is offered annually to children of Insperity corporate employees and children of employees at Insperity client companies.

The students receive a $1,000 scholarship for each year of college attended, up to four years. Recipients are selected based on academic records throughout their high school career, significant activities and contributions to school and community, test scores, school recommendations and student essays about personal characteristics, activities, plans and goals.
