Johns Creek Offers Free Document Shredding To Residents

Johns Creek residents who need to properly dispose of sensitive, private documents can head to Panera Bread Saturday morning to safely shred those items.

The city will host the document shredding service from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 7 at the restaurant, which is located at 11715 Medlock Bridge Road.

In addition to the document shredding, residents can also dispose of fats, oils and grease, which can clog sewage pipes and cause back-ups possibly affecting entire neighborhoods. These items will be recycled into bio-diesel and glycerin for soap.

The document-shredding opportunity is sponsored by the city of Johns Creek, Keep Johns Creek Beautiful and Panera Bread Co.

To avoid identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission recommends shredding charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks and bank statements, expired charge cards and credit offers.

All of the paper from the shredded documents will be recycled.
