Blotter: Coin Machine Theft, Counterfeiting

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

Shoplifting

On June 8 a Johns Creek Police officer was dispatched to on State Bridge Road on a shoplifting call. The store's loss prevention officer said that his team member called him to advise that a know shoplifter was entering the store. The loss prevention officer followed the suspect, who opened some Wii controllers and concealed them in his pockets. The two employees confronted the suspect in the breezeway, beyond the last point of sale. The suspect removed the controllers from his pockets and was escorted to their office. The suspect admitted to the employees that he previously took other controllers on June 4. The suspect told the police officer that he made a "stupid mistake."

On June 5 it was reported that someone forced open the air pump next to the car wash at the on Haynes Bridge Road. An undisclosed amount of quarters was taken from the pump, which had a hole punched in the front and the locks on the coin machine pried open.

On June 8 an employee at reported that a small silver GE refrigerator was stolen from the outside rear of the business. He said it was in the process of being cleaned and was placed about 25 feet from the rear of the business. He stated that a bicycle was recently stolen from the back of the business as well.

Counterfeit Bill

On June 5 a Johns Creek Police officer responded to on Jones Bridge Road in reference to an attempted fraud in progress. An employee stated that clinic staff found a counterfeit bill in the cash drawer at the end of the day on April 21. The employee stated that it was the only bill in that denomination and the she remembered who gave it to her. The clinic did not call police at that time. When the same customer suspected of passing the bill returned for an appointment on June 5, the employee recognized him and the manager called 911. The customer stated that he does not know what bill he used to pay on the initial visit. He said that his father gave him the money and that is father is financially secure and would not be involved in counterfeiting. The police notified Secret Service and were advised to forward the case if a legitimate lead developed.

Vehicle Break-Ins

On June 5 a vehicle was reported broken into in a parking lot in an undisclosed location on State Bridge Road. A brief case containing a passport was reported stolen and the vehicle's door lock was reported damaged.

On June 9 an unlocked vehicle was reported broken into while parked on Byers Road. Cash left on the center console was reported stolen.

Attempted Home Break-In

On June 4 a resident on Rivermont Parkway told police that someone tried to enter the home by prying the rear door lock. The deadbolt lock had pry marks and was damaged but entry was not made into the home.
