“Unfortunately, active shooter events are happening many times a year in all kinds of settings,” said Maj. John Clifton with the Johns Creek Police Department. “Sometimes education can be the difference between surviving a lethal situation and being a victim. We want to provide people with information and suggestions that can help them know what to do.”
The class, which will include videos and demonstrations, will cover the background science of how people behave in high stress events, past active shooter events including the mindset and profile of the shooter, how to survive an active shooter event and what to do when the police arrive.
The seminar is based on Advance Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT), a nationwide initiative to help law enforcement with active shooter events and to educate the public about what to do. The seminar is free and open to the public.
Perimeter Church is located at 9500 Medlock Bridge Road.
