Johns Creek Promotes Two Veteran Officers

The Johns Creek Police Department has announced the promotion of two veteran officers. Jon Moses was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant and Chris Byers advanced from lieutenant to captain.

“These two officers have demonstrated time and again their ability to master whatever task is thrown at them,” said Police Chief Ed Densmore. “I can rely on them to be thorough and creative in solving problems.”

A Cobb County native, Moses graduated from North Georgia College with a degree in biology. He joined the Fulton County Police Department in 1993, and spent the next 15 years working in uniform patrol and on the Community Oriented Policing team.

He came to Johns Creek in 2008 as one of the first 10 officers who helped launch the Johns Creek Police Department. Moses now oversees information technology, facilities, fleet and quartermaster duties and works on special projects.

Byers, born and raised in Virginia, is a graduate of Liberty University. He started his law enforcement career with the Clayton County Police Department in 1996. In 2001, he joined the Gwinnett County Police Department where he served for five years, attaining the rank of senior patrolman. He then went to the city of Forsyth Police Department where he rose to major.

Byers came to the Johns Creek Police Department in 2008. With the promotion, Byers will become a member of the senior command staff and have myriad duties, including hiring and recruiting, internal affairs investigations, media relations and working on special projects.
