Johns Creek PTSA to Host Candidate Forum

The forum will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at Johns Creek High School.

The Johns Creek High School PTSA will host its fifth annual Candidate Forum and Voter Information Night later this month.

The free event, which is open to the public, will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the school’s auditorium.

Some of the candidates who’ve signed on to participate include State Senator John Albers (R-Roswell) and Democratic opponent Akhtar Sadiq of Roswell; State Rep. Lynne Riley (R-Johns Creek) and Democratic challenger Paul M. Troop of Alpharetta; and State Representative Tom Rice (R-Norcross) and Democrat Amreeta Regm of Peachtree Corners.

Democratic U.S. House of Representatives candidate Robert Montigel of Alpharetta will share his ideas and residents will hear from state school superintendent candidates Richard Woods, a Republican, and Valarie Wilson, the Democratic candidate, about important education issues.

This will be a moderated event and the audience will have the opportunity to present questions to the candidates.

The event will begin and end with informal meet and greets by the candidates from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and again after the Candidate Forum concludes.

Candidates will fill tables with literature, yard signs and bumper stickers for the taking.

“Our goal is to inform voters on the issues in as balanced a way as possible in a non-partisan environment,” said Denise Abramow, co-Vice president of legislation.

Fellow Co-Vice President of Legislation Ann Seidman added the organization doesn’t want to sway anyone’s opinions on certain candidates or issues.

“Instead, we want voters to be informed and encourage all to cast their ballots on Nov. 4 ,” she added.

Johns Creek High School is located at 5575 State Bridge Road.
