Johns Creek To Receive 'Purple Heart City' Designation
The Johns Creek Veterans Association will accept the resolution proclaiming the city as an official Purple Heart City.

All military veterans and Purple Heart recipients are invited to attend the Johns Creek City Council meeting on May 11 as the Council will present a resolution proclaiming Johns Creek as a Purple Heart City.
As a Purple Heart City, Johns Creek “is honoring the sacrifices of those that were either wounded or killed by the action of enemies of the U.S. during war time,” the city said in a press release.

There have been more than 1.5 million Purple Hearts awarded, according to the city.
The City will erect Purple Heart City signs underneath existing ‘Welcome to Johns Creek’ signs at the city limits along major thoroughfares as part of the designation.

The Purple Heart designation is not related to the number of Purple Heart recipients in a particular city. There are nearly 1,000 cities, states and counties that hold the Purple Heart designation.
The Johns Creek Veterans Association will accept the resolution proclaiming Johns Creek as an official Purple Heart City at the May 11 meeting.
The Johns Creek City Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 11 in the council chambers at City Hall, which is at 12000 Findley Road.
