Johns Creek resident Pranathy Gangaraju has hit the international stage as she prepares to compete in the Miss India Worldwide pageant.

Gangaraju, 20, was crowned Miss India USA in New Jersey in December 2014. She is a 2013 graduate of Northview High School.

During the pageant, which is organized by the Indian Festive Committee of New York, Gangaraju participated in Indian ethnic wear, evening gown, and talent competitions as well as a question-and-answer session with panel judges. For her talent competition, she performed an Indian classical dance with a modern twist reminiscent of Bollywood.
An aspiring actress and dancer, Gangaraju recently attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in Los Angeles for an intensive 12-week program, as part of her ongoing desire to become a method actor.
Gangaraju recently took time from her busy schedule to visit family and friends in her hometown of Johns Creek, which included a visit with Mayor Mike Bodker at City Hall.
