Johns Creek Summer Concert Series Starts May 12

Gump Fiction will take the stage around 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- The days are longer and temperatures are warmer in Johns Creek, two signals to music lovers that the Johns Creek Summer Concert Series has returned for audience to enjoy.

The 2017 concert series will kick off Friday, May 12 at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park. The first group for the season will be Gump Fiction, a band that's described as a high-octane, nostalgia-fueled time machine that will teleport you back to the 1990's.

Gump Fiction will you back to the days of dial-up Internet, slap bracelets, Tamagotchi pets, and the music you forgot you loved. Gump Fiction is your chance to go back in time and rock out to your favorite A-side tracks, from Nirvana to Britney Spears, and everywhere in between.

Jessie Albright and Foster Blues is the opening band and will take the stage at 7 p.m. Gump Fiction will follow around 8:15 p.m.

Concerts are free, gates open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

For the May concert, Angel Fire BBQ food truck and King of Pops with their sweet frozen treats will be on site. For those looking for a little more room, you can purchase round tables, for up to 10 people, can be reserved under the amphitheater by calling 678-512-3200.

Concerts will be held rain or shine. In the case of rain, attendees are welcome to bring umbrellas, but no pop-up tents.

If lightning or severe weather moves into the area, the city may delay the start of the concert of evacuate if necessary. For more information on future concert at Newtown Park, visit the city's website.
